Business Plan Development
Developing business plans for disruptive new products and services
is the cornerstone of all that Innosight Ventures does.
From our self-funded Ventures to the IDEAS fund, we are continually building, iterating, refining and executing game-changing business
models for disruptive new products and services.
All of our consultants are real-life practitioners of innovation,
sharing an equal role in advising clients and running their own
startups through Innosight's venturing activities.
This expertise is brought to bear in working with clients to develop
their own new business models, and is why Innosight's decade of
experience
can help you unlock new growth through Innovation.
Innosight offers a variety of approaches to work with you on
business plan development, from 'light touch' advisory services via
telephone, through to 'heavy touch', full subcontracting in which we
can develop a series of business plans for our clients looking to enter
a
new market or find an innovative use for a new technology.
A Standard Business Plan
While customized to the client and opportunity, our business plans follow a reasonably standard set of guidelines, and are designed to push forwards an opportunity to the point at which the first serious funding or resource allocation decision must be made, and the business plan prioritized relative to other opportunities.
A standard business plan includes:
Summary of Opportunity
- Summary of opportunity and high-level description of the product
- Overview of targeted jobs to be done and
foothold customers for
the product
- Overview of existing solutions and their shortcomings and
strengths relative to the targeted jobs
- Description of our solution's key features and functionality,
'gives and gets' relative to existing solutions, sample
advertisements or even prototype
products to capture nuances and
intangible benefits of the new product.
- Description of the business model including partnerships
required to make it work and strategies for avoiding early competition
and building sustainable advantage
- Reverse income statement and scenario analysis to describe upside
potential
- Key assumptions to test and ideas on how to create cheap
prototypes to test those key assumptions; also some sense for cost of
proceeding
